Mandi Batalo

Dr. Mandi Batalo joined the San Bernardino faculty in 2006 after nearly twenty years as an administrator and faculty member at a private college and as an adjunct instructor at several community colleges and California State University San Bernardino. Since coming to San Bernardino Valley College, she has served as the art department’s chairperson. She teaches digital design and photography, oversees certificate and associate of graphic design and multimedia arts programs, and works on several grant-funded programs for SBVC and certificates in Arts Entrepreneurship and Gallery management.

Her research interests include the development of personal creativity through reflective and contemplative practices, and creativity and mindfulness were the subjects of her doctoral dissertation. Her professional career outside academia includes graphic design, photography, and career development for art students. She has applied this combination of practical and academic experience to various clients throughout her 33-year career in education and design.

Todd Heibel

Todd is Professor of Geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at San Bernardino Valley College.  He is Faculty Co-Chair for the Architecture, Environmental Science, Earth Science, and Spatial Science Departments.  His research interests include urbanization, the urban-wildland interface, and associated aspects of environmental justice within a spatial framework.  Todd has a PhD in Geography from Penn State University.  He also has a BS in Geosciences and MA in Geography from the University of Missouri.

Bo Liu

Bo Liu is a project director at the Luskin Center for Innovation, focusing on transportation electrification and urban analytics. His research interests include regional and cross-sectoral understanding of global environmental change and mitigation strategies, and integrated analysis of technology, infrastructure and public policy. Bo received his PhD in Urban Planning from UCLA in 2020. He also holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University, a MS in Environmental Science from SUNY-ESF, and a BS in Environmental Science from Beijing Normal University.
